Better blood circulation while sleeping

If you suffer from poor circulation while sleeping, chances are you aren’t getting the amount of sleep you need to function during the day. Poor circulation can lead to pain and discomfort, which can interrupt sleep patterns. Investing in quality pillows and mattresses can help, but you may also need to make changes to your diet and exercise regimen in order to improve your circulation and get a better night’s sleep.

  • Purchase pillows that support your neck and head during sleep. Poor circulation can start if your body isn’t properly aligned when lying down. Purchase a new pillow every six months or when your pillow loses its shape.

  • Drink plenty of water during the day to increase blood flow in the body. Water can also help flush away impurities that can build up in the body over time and cause blood clotting.

  • Make changes to your diet to help increase blood circulation and prevent the buildup of plaque. Plaque is caused by eating foods that are high in fat. Plaque can cause clotting in your blood vessels, which prevents blood from flowing as quickly as it should. Replace foods that are high in fat, sugar and carbohydrates with ones that are high in protein, vitamins and other healthy nutrients.

  • Increase the amount of time you spend exercising each week. Exercise  increases blood flow and releases helpful endorphins that help the body relax.

  • Consult your physician if circulation problems persist even after you change your diet and exercise regimen. Poor circulation may be the result of something other than your lifestyle.
