Brrrr. It sure is cold out, nothing like a warm bowl of… hmmm what to have today?
You can find many different international soups in Vancouver, that is, as long as you know where to look.
Pho, Ramen, Hot and Sour Soup, are just three soups that stand out for me when thinking of eastern soups, and I know where to get the best of each!
If you are looking for a soothing bowl of Pho, head up to Kerrisdale and drop in to Pho Tan. I usually get the small number 7 with extra vegetables it’s so delicious. If you are looking for something a bit spicier “without you adding the spice yourself,” try their meat satay, with added coconut milk, it’s super tasty! If you’re really hungry, go for a large bowl! If you want your meat cooked, be sure to ask for it right when you are placing your order. Pho Tan Vietnamese Restaurant is located at 2076 West 41st Avenue. I love this family run Pho Restaurant and the food never changes. What you order is what you get time and time again!
If you are looking for a great place to have Ramen, venture downtown to the West End. The restaurant you need to go to is called, Motomachi Shokudo, located at 740 Denman Street. I like their Miso based soup, and it doesn’t seem to leave you feeling thirsty, unlike some other Ramen soups that do.
Okay, and now for the sweet and sour soup, head over to the old Ridge Garden Chinese Restaurant. Their hot and sour soup has a bit of a bit and yet isn’t too spicy, just the way I like it. It is full of goodness and is sure to warm you up! This Chinese restaurant is located at, 3113 Arbutus Street at the Ridge.
Just a heads up, all of these restaurants mentioned are more about the food, more than the ambience. Truly, it is the food that makes these places worthy of recommending!
